So today I am bringing you Part 2 of my "Back to School" series! I am going to share my go-to makeup look for days when I am in a rush and feeling exhausted (which is nearly every day I have to get up early and go to work) and want to look awake and put together. I have been wearing a version of this look since I started teaching. I think it is essential to have a quick and easy, no fuss makeup routine that you can rely on for days when you don't want to think! My former coworkers know that I like to switch up my makeup looks a lot. I like to throw in bold and bright lipsticks, colorful eye makeup, etc. But most days you can find me wearing the look I will show you below.
***Disclaimer: my photographer (aka my husband) is out of town for work this week so I apologize for the awkward selfie at the end. Hopefully you can still get an idea of what the makeup looks like!
Let's get started! I am not a morning person so I typically shower at night just so I can have a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning. When I manage to drag myself out of bed, I wash and moisturize my face. I always use cold water to help wake me up! Now I am ready for makeup.
For my face, I use the Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous foundation. This is by far the BEST drugstore foundation I have every used!!! It's perfect for work because it is quick and easy to apply, it blends beautifully, and is really long wearing. For my under eye area, I use the corresponding concealer in the shade "fair". I set my foundation with MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in the shade "medium". This will keep your foundation in place and reduce any shine that might occur throughout the day. For blush, I use MAC's "blushbaby". This color is perfect when you want to get out the door quickly because it is a pinky-tan shade so I don't feel that I need to use a bronzer.
Now it's time for the eyes. Remember, this is a very fast and simple eye look. No bells and whistles because we are running late for work and 25 little kiddos wait for no one! For years I have been using Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion in the shade "sin". It is a beautiful, shimmery, rose-gold that looks gorgeous on its own or underneath any eyeshadow color. It prevents your shadow from creasing and makes it last all day. I find that pink eyeshadow is extremely flattering and when applied correctly can make you look more bright eyed and awake! Some of my favorites are in the photo below! The duo on top is from Clinique. I highly recommend the shade "lucky penny". It is my favorite to layer over the primer potion and it is sold separately. Unfortunately the brown shade in this duo is not sold separately, but any brown will work. Below that from left to right: Wet 'n Wild trio in "sweet as candy"($2 at the drugstore and really great quality!), L'oreal Infallible eyeshadow in "amber rush" (apply this with your finger, not a brush), MAC eyeshadow in "da bling", and MAC duo in "double feature 5" (not sure if this is still available...). These are just suggestions. You just need a pretty light pink and a medium warm brown.
I apply the pink shade all over the lid and add the brown to the outer "v" of the eye and blend blend blend. I also use a highlight shade for the inner corner and brown bone (MAC "shroom"). Then I line my top and bottom lid with MAC eye pencil in "coffee". The brown is a softer, more natural look that you don't have to be very precise with so it's easy when you're in a rush. A few coats of mascara (I use Maybelline's Lash Sensational in "blackest black") and your eyes are complete!
Last but not least, you need an easy lip color that is flattering but not fussy so you don't have to worry about touching it up all day. I love my NARS lipgloss in "baby doll". Throw it in your bag and you're good to go!
Ignore my frizzy hair...definitely did not feel like fixing it today - just keeping it real! |
