Southern in San Fran: Let's start at the very beginning...

Do y'all remember that song from The Sound of Music? "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start..." As I sat down to begin my first entry, that line popped into my head! So, let's start at the beginning shall we?

My name is Alexis Lakin. I recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, Matt and fur baby, Winston. We moved here from Dallas because Matt accepted a new job. For those who know me, I was not exactly thrilled about the move. I know most people thought I was crazy for not wanting to move to San Francisco, but I felt so settled in our little life in Dallas. I had a great job, we were enjoying our first house together, and we had recently adopted Winston (more to come on Winston soon!). I had always lived in the south and loved everything about it. No desire to change things up. However, God had other plans for our little family! We took a MAJOR leap of faith and decided to take on the west coast!

So, what will Southern in San Fran be about? I want to use this blog as a way to document and remember this exciting adventure that we've begun. I will incorporate all of the things that I enjoy most (fashion, beauty, attempting to be a domestic goddess, my family and faith, and of course my little Winston). In an effort to introduce myself to the blogging world and sticking with my Sound of Music themed title for this first entry, I thought I would share "a few of my favorite things..."

* Fashion (Being on a budget, you have to get creative and I love putting together outfits and mixing old and new pieces!)
* FALL (Those who know me, know that pumpkin season is my everything!!! I am a fall hipster...I liked pumpkin before it was cool! Ha! Plus, the weather, changing leaves, vampy nails, boots, scarves, need I go on???)
* I am also obsessed with Christmas and really all holidays! September 1-January 1 is my favorite time of the year!!!
* Red wine
* Decorating our home
* Chips and queso (Probably what I miss the most about Dallas...the struggle is real)
* Cooking dinner for my hubs (definitely a work in progress, but I love trying new recipes)
* Going out to dinner
* Pretty much any event that involves food...
