Pregnancy Must Haves

Hey y'all!

I know, I know it's been forever....again. Let's keep it real, I have officially become an *occasional* blogger. So sorry, hopefully I'll get better one day but for now life has taken priority! I am so excited to share some pregnancy updates and my must have products. Pregnancy has been the most amazing experience and I can't believe I am six months in. Can't wait until November when we can meet our little guy, but for now I am just loving every minute of him growing in my belly.

A few quick updates then we'll get into the products. First, I can't believe how big my belly is getting! I remember wanting so badly to see a little bump and now it is very obvious. I just love it! I also LOVE dressing the bump. I have found the best maternity clothes are basics that you can mix and match and dress up or down. Motherhood Maternity online and Target have been my staples. I've also found some great non-maternity items that still work (for now) for my growing bump at Nordstrom. Y'all, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was SO GOOD this year. Being pregnant really limited my purchases (which my husband and bank account were happy about!). I was able to snag some great long cardigans and some Ugg slippers and a few other goodies that will work with the bump. Check out my instagram (lexilakin) for outfit posts.

Lately, I've had some insomnia. I fall asleep fine but wake up around 4am and am wide awake! I'll fall back asleep around 6:00 and am up by 8:00. It's fine for now because it's still summer break but once I go back to work things could get tricky. Speaking of, I initially gave up caffeine when I found out I was pregnant. It was summer and I didn't feel like I needed it. However, with my recent insomnia and knowing that I'm going back to work again I gave in and started having a little. They tell you that you can have 200mg a day and a tall latte only has 154mg so yay! I know this will be even more helpful once school starts!!

I've been staying active and feeling great. I walk Winston for about 45 minutes every day and have been doing prenatal workout videos everyday as well (thank you Youtube!!). I've gained almost 20 pounds so far (which sounds like soooo much!) but my doctors are saying that I'm right on track given my starting weight and height. I feel really great about my body and baby is healthy and growing so that's all I care about.

We did have a scary moment about a month ago. I was sitting on the couch and had this incredibly strong pain on my lower left side. When you're pregnant, it is common to have abdominal pains here and there but this was unlike anything I had felt before. I started feeling very nauseous and dizzy which really worried me. I called my doctor (because of course this happened in the evening) and they reassured me that everything was probably fine, but if I was worried I should just go in and get things checked out so I ended going to the hospital. When you are past 20 weeks, they allow you go straight up to Labor and Delivery instead of the ER which was nice. The doctor and nurses I saw were so nice and reassured me that I did the right thing because I was so worried. They did an ultrasound and baby boy was just fine. Thank you Jesus!! They thought it might have been intense round ligament pain but weren't sure about the dizziness and nausea. It may have been my body responding to the pain. Can't wait for labor...haha! I am such a worrier and am really working on giving my worries to the Lord and trusting that He will protect our precious boy.

I had my glucose test this past week. I had to drink what looked like a small bottle of Gatorade, but tasted like orange Triaminic. After an hour they drew my blood to test for gestational diabetes. Praying for good results!

My baby showers are coming up and I can't wait to see my friends and family back home and celebrate out sweet boy!!! I will definitely share pictures :) My shower hostesses are the sweetest and included little notes in the invites asking people to ship larger gifts to our house since I will be traveling by plane. We've started receiving gifts and it has been so fun!!! We also painted the nursery and I will share pictures of that soon too. I love how it is coming together! Okay, I've rambled enough about updates. Time to share some products!

My Must-Have Pregnancy Products:

Y'all, this lotion is amazing! It is light and not greasy and smells like fresh coconut. I have been slathering it all over my body after I get out of the shower and will definitely be repurchasing when I run out. It has really helped with my itchy belly (hello stretching skin!)

Speaking of itchy bellies, I started using this stuff as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I put it on my belly every night before bed. It doesn't really have a smell, but it is so creamy and makes my skin so soft. So far no stretch marks but I know we have a long way to go.

I have been drinking a lot of water this pregnancy. I know it is so important to stay hyrdrated when pregnant and Tervis Tumblers have been the only way I like to drink water...so weird I know but it's true!

Excuse the awkward photo, but I finally caved and bought some new bras. These from Target have no underwire and are so comfortable. It was a serious game changer for me.

My skin has slowly but surely started getting better. I attribute the improvement to my Tula products and new Philosophy moisturizer. This face mask is amazing!!! I use it 3 times a week especially when my skin is getting a lot of texture. So so so good.

This has been my biggest craving (as well as cereal! we have soooo much cereal at our house). I never was into cherry flavored things but this ice cream is a must have. I think about it all day and can't wait to have it after dinner with some chocolate syrup!

I thought I'd wrap up the post with some bump pictures! I LOVE this growing boy!!!!
